How much is Photoshop?

The question of how much is Photoshop is a common one within the design community. This photo editing tool has been around for decades and remains to be one of the best tools for the job. Here are your options when you want to start using Adobe Photoshop.
How much is Photoshop

How much is Photoshop? We’ll answer that question right here. At this moment, you can get Adobe Photoshop for a monthly payment. How much this payment will be will depend on the package you’ll choose.

You can go for the single app plan, for example. However, the app is also included in other (more expensive) packages. We’ll explain below.

How much is Photoshop in 2021

As an individual, you can purchase most of Adobe’s apps for $20.99 per month. This includes Photoshop as well. One thing to keep in mind is that this is the annual plan. You’ll be stuck to this price for 12 months.

If you want more freedom you’ll have to pay a bigger price. Photoshop is $31.49 if you want a monthly plan. We suspect you’ll be using Photoshop for a longer time than just a month, so going for the annual plan is our recommendation.

If you want the best value for your money, you can even pay for a year of Photoshop upfront. You’ll save about $12 every year. That’s almost one month for free.

One variation to keep in mind is the Photography package. For a lower price of $9.99, you can use Photoshop, Lightroom, and Lightroom Classic. Sounds like a good package, right?

Alternative plans for students and businesses

The question of how much is Photoshop depends on the way you position yourself. The costs we talked about previously were for individuals. Other plans apply to business owners, students, and teachers.

For business owners, Photoshop is a bit more expensive. You’ll have to pay $33.99 for just Adobe Photoshop or $79.99 if you want to use all apps. That is $13 and $27 more expensive. However, the same benefits apply here if you purchase an annual subscription.

You might be wondering why Photoshop is so much more for businesses. Well, there are some benefits. According to Adobe’s plans, pricing, and membership page, you’ll get administration tools, cloud storage, and more.

Up next, we have students and teachers. If you’re a student or teacher, you’re in luck. You can get all Adobe apps at a discount. Where others have to pay $52.99 or $79.99 for all Adobe apps, you’ll only have to pay $19.99 per month for the first year. Not too bad!

Frequently asked questions

Purchasing Photoshop isn’t always easy. How much Photoshop is will depend on your situation and the other apps you want to use. We can understand that you might have some questions. We’ll try and answer the most common ones below.

Can I buy Photoshop permanently?

No, you can’t purchase Photoshop permanently. This used to be the case with Adobe CS (Creative Suite). However, the final version of Adobe CS was released in 2012. Since then, Adobe’s apps have only been available through Creative Cloud.

One thing to keep in mind is that Adobe CS was very expensive. For every new version of CS, you had to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars. So even though you can’t buy Photoshop permanently, paying a monthly fee is more beneficial to you than how things used to be with Adobe CS.

What is the cheapest way to get Photoshop?

The cheapest way to get Adobe Photoshop is to go for the Photography plan and pay annually. You’ll get Photoshop, Lightroom, and Lightroom Classic for $199.88 per year (or $9.99 per month).

You could make it even a little bit cheaper by first using the 30-days trial of Adobe Photoshop. More on that below.

Is there a free version of Photoshop?

No, there is no fully free version of Photoshop. However, you can try Photoshop for free for a trial of 30 days. Do you only have to use Photoshop for a short-term project? Maybe you can do with just the trial version of Adobe Photoshop.

However, we recommend going for a paid plan. You’ll earn that investment back in no time when you complete a client project.

That’s it for how much Photoshop is. You’ll pay anything between $9.99 and $52.99 every month depending on the total package you choose.

Our recommendation is to go for the single app plan. You can combine Photoshop with other apps like Figma and Sketch to create a total toolbox for your designer needs.
